Come and enjoy dedicated writing time, deepen your practice and build your confidence!

All levels are welcome to our fun, friendly five-week course in Folkestone at DIY4Folke in Tontine Street

With this course you’ll generate writing/learn editing techniques and deepen your skills and understanding of how to write.

We’ll build your confidence & help you share your writing with others in a safe & supportive group.

Whether you’re into poetry, fiction, playwriting, or lifewriting, need help to jazz up your screenplay, this five-week course will help you generate more words with more joy!

  • The five-module course will help you develop and maintain a daily discipline for writing with joy and pleasure.
  • Develops your writing skills in several genres including fiction, poetry, life writing and scriptwriting.
  • Highly practical. With this autumn series we’re going to focus on generating and editing writing!
  • Helps you submit your writing with confidence and polish it to professional standard
  • Tutor-groups enable you to be part of an interactive writing community.

Dr Kerry Ryan

As well as running Collectivity, Kerry is the founder & director of Write like a Grrrl which offers creative writing courses globally for women/NB. Kerry was creative advice columnist for Dear Damsels, and has taught creative writing for seven years, including to women leaving sex work, LGBTQ+ and domestic abuse survivors.

She is the editor of the anthology, ‘So Long as You Write’, which features her writing on the inner critic, and is published in June 2022 (Dear Damsels)

She won the Spilling Ink short story prize, was shortlisted for Myriad Editions First Draft prize and had writing published in The Manchester Review, The Kenyon Review, 3am Magazine among others.

Her play ‘Trust’ was staged at the Gulbenkian Theatre and two other plays were staged at Folkestone 48.

Her poetry has been published widely including Selcouth Station, Foxglove Press, Off Menu PressQueerlings(Im)possible Performances & Custom Labs.

In 2021, she received the Arts Council England Developing Your Creative Practice award. She has a MLitt with distinction in Literary Studies and a PhD in English/Creative writing.
